Networking during Volunteering
Hi, I was offered an opportunity (with my current non-profit org.) for a volunteering role in collaboration with a PE firm. Would it be possible to network during the event itself and if so, how should it be done? Thanks Region: Asia
Volunteer Board Treasurer experience?
I just secured a volunteer board treasurer position for a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission I really believe in. I've spoken with the founder/managing director of the non-profit at length and we're aligned on expectations and high-level goals for my position. However, I'm a little concerned because...
High Impact Non-Profits in NYC
Does anyone have personal experience volunteering with non-profits in NYC? Did a quick search and am seeing threads on how to get on the board for business school etc, but I'm more curious to hear about non-profits that people have had positive experiences volunteering with - especially using skills...
Canadian Volunteer Opportunities for Professionals
Title says it all; looking for some volunteer opportunities in Canada that would make use of a finance/business skillset. Seems like I'm in the minority with ample free time now that I've begun work, so want to use it to contribute to a worthwhile cause.
How I Fought My Way Back (Vol. Bruce Wayne in TDKR)
Mod Note (Andy): #TBT Throwback Thursday - this was originally posted on 3/9/13. Hi there, fellow monkeys. Hope all is well. I've been lurking here for a few years and didn't really get to posting until just recently. After some PMs regarding my story/background via my resume review thread, I...
Volunteer abroad
How do you find volunteer programs/projects? Are there any free programs out there (i.e. you do not have to pay for the program but requires you to cover accommodation and living expenses)? My time horizon is 2-3 weeks because I can get max 3 weeks/year off from my job. I planning to go to...
Doing things SOLELY to improve your b-school app / resume
This thread yesterday ( "Marathon as Bschool Resume Booster" ) got me thinking...Doesn't it annoy you when you hear people doing things in the life with the primary purpose of putting it on their b-school app and/or resume, or doing activities just for the networking possibilities (ie "which gym is...
Resume Critique/Volunteer Work Question
Posted this in the IB Forum too, but thought this forum may be better for getting some resume advice: I was wondering if anyone can offer any insight as to how volunteer work abroad, specifically microfinance, is viewed in terms of work experience and what the best way to include it on your resume...
Volunteering while working in IB
To the IB guys already working: Do any of you at the analyst level do volunteer work (charity, hospital, library, etc...) on the weekends? Or is this simply not recommended. Any input would be great. If you do volunteer, what places do you recommend? Thanks!!
Community Service
Hey guys. I need your help. I'd like to volunteer some of my time with any organization. I saw a great site that had some organizations in NYC but I can't find it anymore. Do you guys know of any sites (that list opportunities) or any organizations?
Rewarding stuff outside of NY Banking?
So this goes out to all the New York bankers out there...I just started (09 grad) and was wondering if any of you all have found rewarding experiences / activities outside of the office that you are involved in? Not really for resume, just in general to feel more like a New-yorker / get involved....
Volunteering - NYC
I'm a soon to be first year analyst in NYC at a fairly well known shop. I'm pretty excited to start in July, but one of the things I was wondering if any analysts or junior bankers here have had time to put in volunteer work, even if its just an hour or two a week. I've done volunteer work...
