how do you avoid talking about money? -> on a date

There is nothing worse than talking about money on dates. i am sure the majority of us are no john paulson but we do well for ourselves. how do you avoid these questions/comments?

-Do you just want to work in finance because of the money:
-like i am not going to lie money is a factor in my decision however it is the interest i am in capital markets that led me to pursue this career -> sounds so scripted or even worse i could talk about alternative careers and say why finance is better (conducting a comparative analysis)

-That is an expensive _____ (car, coat, clothes, suit etc)
-What do your parents do for a living?

i try to be vague in my answers and that just leads them to ask more questions. it feels like i am being interviewed rather than going on a date

Tell her it doesn't really matter, because she's signing a prenup if she wants a ring.

“Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be”

I just ignore these questions then start talking about how good the waitress looks. This usually gets shocked, disgusted, or intrigued looks.

Do you want to be in finance just because of the money? A: It doesn't hurt. That is an expensive _____. A: Thank you. What do your parents do? A: Spend my money.

Usually halts that line of questioning.

Rarely will any of my posts have enough forethought/structure to be taken seriously.

Of course not. I care about the children, the environment, and animals, especially the cute ones, like pandas. I'm a complex person who cares.

They're dead, but thanks for bringing up a tremendous source of pain for me. Can I put my face in your tits now?

Is that how you reeled your wife in? I kid, I kid.

Once I did bad and that I heard ever. Twice I did good and that I heard never.

No, we worked together, she didn't need to ask me stupid shit like this.

Why does it matter?

  1. If you are attached to this girl she'll find out eventually?
  2. If you are not, then you'll never see her again?

I'm still so disillusioned by the fact you can't just control the conversation anyway.

Hooked on LEAPS:

On the flip side of the coin... how bad is it to talk about money on a date? I know a lot of rich guys that never stop talking about money, especially the self made guys.

nouveau riche much?

From my personal experiences... it doesn't seem to matter all that much for girls in low to mid 20's (if that's the range you're looking at). Being in great shape and being witty go much farther for this age range (and maybe later). I get the sense that most would rather find a really interesting near broke guy as opposed to one that is less interesting but better off financially. Probably shifts when people realize bills and what you want in life won't pay for themselves.

It's really an art to keeping your financial situation "on the low." If you take a female out on a nice date, they will definitely be curious as to how your paying for everything.
If your the flashy type you will for certain strike interest when it comes to money.

To the guy that said most women in their mid to low 20s just want a witty and in shape guy isn't really true. The guy with the cash gets the (most)ass, women of all age groups want security, money=security. Most women suck at finances and think your loaded when your driving a camaro. (Trust me)

machineman13:

I don't know what kind of hood rats you're going out with, but most girls who are past the age of 19/20 know that a Camaro is not an indicator of wealth.

haha good one. I over exaggerated with the being loaded. In the mid/lower 20s age range they may know you are not wealthy but (if your parents didn't buy it) they think your doing something right. Not many guys are driving $30k+ car in their 20s. It does me justice everywhere with all women.
