Which banks are still sponsoring H1B visas?

I'm looking to start a 1-yr masters program this summer, and I'm thinking of starting to reach out to alums in IBD. I'm an international student, so I'll need H1B sponsorship. I understand that the banks that received TARP money have major hurdles towards hiring foreign students, but if the money is paid back, do the restrictions still apply?

I'd be interested to know which banks are still hiring H1B workers.

I don't know about now, but back in 2008, the only banks that would hire foreign students were Citi and Barclays

Before TARP, banks were already cutting back with the H1B visa cut-backs. Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan would not even give you an interview if they knew you were foreign.

MM banks have never had problems hiring international (Laz/BX/HL/ etc..)

To the best of my knowledge, most banks currently hire H1B. Heres are the ones that don't

-Blackstone does not sponsor H1Bs for US positions (surprising given its scale)
-RBS
-Piper Jaffray
-Wells Fargo
-RBC
-BNY Mellon
-Raymond James
-Sun Trust
-Union Bank Cali
-M&T
-Cap One
-BMO CM
-Lazard MM
-Stifel Nicolaus
-KeyBank
-PNC

PM me of you need more info

I disagree if by "Cap One" you mean "CapitalOne". They do have H1B's. Just go on visadoor.com and check employer names for accurate Dept. of Labor filings and proof of these banks listed and others sponsor or not.

how many non megacap PE firms are there who would even sponsor you?

Once you obtain the H-1B, transferring it is not a problem from what I've heard, takes about 2-3 weeks. Most firms are wary of applying for the Visa, not so much transferring it. There are of course some firms that will be reluctant to sponsor you, but most shouldn't have a problem if your credentials are good.

You will have to go through the entire process again as if you were just out of undergrad. I am an F-1 student too, and I am getting my H1B Visa sponsored this April. I plan to work for 6 years: 2 or 3 IB, and 3 PE (hopefully) and apply for a green card. In my case, I got traumatized this past recruiting season by the fear of not getting a job and having to go back home, so I'll pass on being an F-1 again. At this point, I rather have the security of knowing that I am legally able to work until I get my papers in order. After that, I might consider getting an MBA, if necessary. You could take the chances with the MBA and get a job and apply again with H1B....with good credentials, more than likely you'll have no problems getting sponsored again.

Apparently, one can't apply for H1 without a graduation certificate (which most students don't get till May/June). So do most International analysts work using OPT for year 1 (unless slots are still available that late). Does anyone have any idea of how this affects taxes?
This topic was discussed extensively last year given the fragile market and massive layoffs. Run a search.

macro while you are right that goldman and cs sponsor H1bs, there is no thing such as generosity....if you are good enough, they will hire you and work out your H1B, but the same thing applies to most other banks as well. I am sure JPM doesnt go into recruiting thinking we are only going to hire 30 of the best H1Bs ... once you get the offer, only then do all the big banks (i wont say BBs only) start working around your work status

Of course the term "generosity" is meant in comparison with the other banks. Although I know nothing of their internal policies, several of my international friends were told by most of the banks that their immigration status would be an issue, whereas GS and CS told them to not sweat it. One of them was actually given an offer by JPMorgan, which was later rescinded when they found out that she was not a citizen. Another was told during the interview process with several banks that it would be difficult for them to get an offer. Guess where they are working now?

I have no specific information to give out, other than that I have seen friends being hired by small firms.

One piece of advice I have for you is that if you are majoring in a STEM subject, you can convince the boutique firm to let you work there as you can work without a H1B on STEM OPT for 29 months.

Yes, I know that working in Finance is not a STEM field, but USCIS only cares about your major. Have seen several cases of kids working in banks/consulting getting their OPT extended to 29 months because of their STEM majors.

BS in Finance/Econ does not count btw.

Hi Guys.

I am into banking sector from last 4 years and working as a Credit Analyst with State Bank of India. I am here in USA on H4 as my wife is working on H1b. Can anyone help me out as to how can i get my H4 converted to H1B. I am really looking forward for your help as currently i am totally lost as to how to proceed. Thanks

Does UBS sponsor h1b? and is it only IBD or will wealth management positions such as financial advisor or client service associate sponsor as well?

I wish i could shove my dick so far up your dick that it creates a gaping vagina, because that's who you are. Just tell them that you're a ginormous douche-canoe with a gaping vagina. They'll understand.

Hi All Just wanted to know what is the best way to approach for getting a H1-B sponsorship for a corporate banking/wealth management kind of a profile? My wife is currently on H4 and has 4 years of experience in corporate banking & wealth management. What are the banks that can be approached that have a sponsorship or are their any third parties that help in doing so?

Thanks in Advance !
