Financial Engineering to Global Macro
Hi,
I am a 21-year old self-directed currency trader aiming to get into global macro hedge fund in the medium-term. I scalp and confide to stay profitable on a consistent basis; I am also aware of the rewards and sacrifices of my choice.
I have completed all the levels of CFA and FRM. I stay in India and the trading scene out here is not that developed. Moreover, Global Macro is pretty far from here. So is it necessary to pursue a Master's to get a job onto a trading desk. Furthermore so, I don't hold the US Visa.
As regards the master's course, would a Master in Financial Engineering be a perfect thing to go for? I don't have a n engineering background and thus, looking at the speed of automation, I thought it would be an appropriate thing to look out for. However, I need to seek counsel as regards whether Financial Engineering would represent a relevant set of skills required for Global Macro? Or do I need to opt for some other Master's course?
Thanks and Regards.
I'm not in the industry yet. But from what I understand, aren't systematic global macro strategies run by quants? As for discretionary, I don't think any masters will help. As I said, I am still a student but based on the people I talked to, this seems to be the case.
