Injured both of my legs, what should I do about pants for the next 4-6 weeks?
Hey guys, I managed to hurt both of my legs on a labor day weekend trip with my cousins and older brother. We were doing our annual labor day trip to the lake house upstate and I came up short while jumping off of a cliff (think 10-15 feet above the water) into the lake below. Both of my legs are currently in above the knee soft cast/braces as I injured the ligaments in one knee and broke my tibia and fibula in the other leg.
What should I do about my outfit below my waist until I recover. All of my dress pants are a relatively slim fit and won't fit over my braces. Should I wear shorts? If so should I avoid cargos and try and wear a nicer short or a finer material? I can also try and find some older dress pants that I can cut off in order to fit over my soft casts. But really they would come half way down my thighs and I would end up wearing the dress pant equivalent of daisy dukes so that idea is out the door.
I also don't want to bring attention to my injured legs. I'm embarrassed enough about the incident. Should I try and find huge, baggy dress pants to fit over my casts? I tried this with a pair of my dad's pants (he weighs about 150 pounds more than me) and it worked OKAY. But I would have to reach down my pants to itch under my braces and I don't want it to look like I'm jerking off under my pants at the office when I go for an itch.
I mean, it's a worst case scenario, but I could always drape a blanket across my lap FDR style. I spend most of my day at a desk anyway. That seems like a dumb idea but my girlfriend thought it was pretty clever. I feel like I'll look like an old woman about to go to knitting club.
Anybody have any creative solutions. Despite my two fucked up legs, I still want to show my company that I'm a professional.
jesus christ dude this sounds terrible. i would probably go with the dress pants. not sure if wearing shorts to the office is a good move. i mean you are in a unique situation so i don't really think you could go wrong with either.
feel better.
not sure if troll post, but wear your dad's pants. Scratch the itch over the pants if you can
Agreed. Here's to hoping a speedy recovery.
sucks bro, I had a broken leg during my internship. I'd recommend you either tuck the dress pants into the cast or roll one of the pant legs up so that it's not touching the cast, no one will care. if your pants are so tight that you can't roll them up, your pants are too tight, so buy new pants.
also, I'd be more concerned that you had to wonder if cargos were acceptable instead of what your colleagues will think about your broken leg. healthy or broken legs, cargos are never ok.
Did you just assume his gender?
Reasonable assumption for someone called "phillyguy422."
This is absolutely awful and I wish you a speedy recovery but it is also somewhat hilarious, I can't help it. I mean, both legs? Both. That's the good part.
I feel really bad for you man! Not gonna lie tho I giggled a little at the storytelling...
I cliff jump all the time in Jersey and upstate NY..how did you mess up a 10-15 ft jump!? Besides if it's only 10 ft what's the point of even jumping? You'll be in the air for like one and a half seconds
I slipped on the approach. My cousins thought it would be funny to throw a stack of pool noodles at me thinking they would just bounce off. I ended up tripping over them and fucked up right as I was about to jump.
Damn! Big fuck up by the cousins...hope you recover fast! As people said here, your coworkers won't care too much about your attire, I'd personally tuck the pants in. Sure, you look a little disabled, but it's a way to own it. The loose pants over the casts are also a good idea as long as they're not insanely loose and you look like a bedouin. The FDR style blanket ehhhh again with the "you'll look disabled" argument. Plus, what's there to hide? It's not embarrassing or anything.
wear XL sweatpants

Much better effort this time. Scorecard shows improvement
Brown, baggy dress shorts and a white and blue, plaid, short-sleeved shirt should do fine. https://media.giphy.com/media/D6uUoxFgRL1GU/giphy.gif
Go all out. Rock a kilt and sporran.
Or a utility kilt.

"Damn near kilt em" is pretty damn clever.
Broke both legs awhile ago. Worked from home while in the wheelchair recovering.
I have dreamed of ways I could legitimately walk into the office with no pants....you are literally living the dream. Congrats bro.
DickFuld In all seriousness, I bought a bottle of bombay sapphire for 22.99 + tax today at target. Did I get ripped off on purchasing the fountain of youth?
Works in Risk. Ironic +1SB
Have a tailor unsew the side seams of your pant legs, then you can still wear your regular pants but they will be as baggy as you need them to be. When you recover have the seam re-sewn.
Wear a kilt bro, it's alpha as fuck. Make sure it's a war kilt though and not the ones the irish tap dancers use those are gay af
Break both arms additionally, get one massive cast. Hire a guy that will roll you inside the office on a stand and put you next to your desk. Proceed giving orders to the guy on how to build that DCF you have been slaving on last week. Make him work for you until you recover. Receive massive respect from colleagues for how professional and dedicated you are.
I spit my coffee everywhere at the blanket line. I would lose my mind if I saw someone wheeling around the office like they just got done storming Normandy
Wear a dishdasha, that white dress that Arab alpha males wear, and go into the office. Walk into the office like Bill Gates is your bitch, then just chill the fuck out. There's a chance you might be redirected to PWM, IR/C&P or Wadiya though (depending on where you work)
You literally have the opportunity of a life time to wear gym shorts to work. I envy you, sir.
I would just recommend wearing pants. I think wearing shorts to the office is a complete No-No unless it's a casual dress down day, but how often does those even happen depending on where you work..? I'd would definitely care less about someone wearing a brace rather than someone wearing shorts to the office.
i broke my ankle a few months ago, and had to wear foot brace all the way up to my right knee. I just bought decent looking camping pants in as dark a gray as possible, to try look like dress pants. These are the kind that you can unzip one or both sides and remove part of the pant leg. i thought it looked a little weird but staff thought it was cool and creative.
Similar story this weekend. Me. Yamaha R6. Road America Turn 10. Ground at 95 mph.
Cast and sling. Wearing baggy clothing. But happy I can walk.
It's ok. You are allowed to look a little unkempt if you're injured.
Man...white man can't jump!
