Coverage Relationship Management vs IB
Hi Everyone,
Interested to learn more about this area of business and its relation to investment banking. The only firms that I see that have these divisions are Societe Generale and HSBC. Both of the descriptions are quite vague and I am not sure of the technical aspects of the job. IE For HSBC's Graduate Analyst Program in Global Banking, candidates have the option of Investment Banking or Coverage Relationship Management.
Is this a front or middle office position? It sounds like it's a relationship manager position. Does anyone know what a typical day would be like for an Analyst in this area?
Thanks
Was invited to a 1st round interview but did not attend because I am deciding on two different offers. From what I've gathered looking on linkedin and the description, it is very akin to corporate banking.
Spot on- it is a relationship manager gig where your role is to point the client you're covering into the right direction when they need a product (be it m&a, capital markets, loans, working capital/transactional banking) Front office and very sales oriented. Hope this helps.
isn't that essentially what a coverage analyst does?
Thanks, that does help!
So obviously the sole responsibility is relationship management and really - knowing your client from the top-down. It sounds like a role where what you put in is what you get out. Do you think this will translate to reasonable exit opportunities given the network you have created and relationships you have made? So i'm guessing investment banking would appreciate this as it could potentially mean more deal flow?
I noticed one person interned in this position (coverage relationship management) and is now working at a MM IB as an Analyst, so I do think it is possible.
Hi, I know this is a pretty dated thread, but do you know at all how hard it was going from CRM to IB?
I'm going to start my CRM internship this summer at a bank, and am hoping for a return offer for full time, but would like to move into something more along the lines of IB or Investment Management early in my career. Do you have any advice for doing so?
Thank you!
