"#enough" - the epitome of liberal stupidity?

As of late, there have been various protests across our nation promoting the slogan "#enough." In schools, students were willing to skip exams (and fail them) just to join their peers on a useless protest.

Does anyone know what the intention of this movement is? What are these liberals hoping to achieve? Yelling and hashtagging sh*t doesn't benefit anyone, and what shooter is going to care about ignorant teenagers' tweets that they've had "enough"?

This is the quite possible a new low from the liberals. Or I'm just missing something.

God forbid some young people feel passionate enough about something to come together and try to make a difference and be heard. Maybe they wouldn’t have to be so persistent about it if people like you were able to be open minded about something for once in your life. I’d suggest you do some research and try to consider their motives and intentions before calling them ignorant. Whether or not I agree with them, I give those kids props for finding ways to stand up for what they believe in.

They don't have any concrete solutions, and any solution put forth that doesn't include gun control they are dismissing. Passion isn't good enough. If every rifle in America were banned and every single death from a rifle eliminated you'd save the lives of about 300 Americans PER YEAR (out of 2,630,000 or so deaths). Rather than save 300 lives, you'd be more likely to cause a civil war that would dissolve the union.

Not every teenager is a fucking moron, but these teenagers are fucking morons--as were most of us. They have no idea what they're talking about because they're understanding of the gun control debate is about as deep as a hashtag. It's fucking ridiculous.

...but they have a good excuse to ditch school. I remember walking off in some "protest" or other, I can't remember what it was about but my friends and I had a grand time getting chili cheese burgers and other things unsupervised kids do

The thing I find funniest (and I don't mean funny like a clown) is that the kids doing this are going to go right back to being shitheads and bullies to each other the next day. Is it not yet self evident that many (all?) of these recent shooters are mentally deranged and have been bullied, picked on, mocked, etc. by their peers until they go on an insane rampage?

It's more of the feel-good nonsense right up there with "thoughts and prayers" and using a silly facebook filter on your picture. Yeah, nobody likes school shootings. This is a relatively recent phenomenon (thanks media?) and nobody will touch the mental health aspect. The same kid saying he doesn't feel safe in school is going to go right back to picking on the dork playing pokemon at lunch and maybe he'll end up snapping. I really think the internet/social-media has played a massive role in stunting emotional development and exacerbating all sorts of latent mental issues as well.

That's my hot take. Guns don't kill people, people do etc.

Off of your point, it's more kids (people) just feeling like they are doing something, rather than actually doing something. Similar to when the French bombing happened and everyone put the French flag in their FB profile (did it really do anything).

People will do the easy thing because it's easy. As you said, thousands (millions?) of kids will walk out of school for 17 minutes, but how many kids will go sit with another kid eating lunch by themselves? How many kids will go hangout on a Friday night with someone who doesn't really have any friends, or stand up for another, less popular kid?

People say we need to outlaw bullying-I don't think bullying is the problem. As you stated, I think it is more social media than anything else. Bullying use to be some kid would beat you up or steal your lunch money, and that was it. Now, kids get bullied at school, then they go home and get threats through social media, they can't get away. I also think the internet is a key player because people can easily find communities of people who think the same way they think, so farfetched ideas seem less farfetched.

I guess we need stricter gun laws? Maybe that will help? There are still a lot more ways to kill people in mass that the government hasn't thought to outlaw/can't outlaw. I think it will be similar to what happened to airplanes, one guy snuck something in his underwear or shoe, now we all have to take our shoes off and throw up the HOVA sign to get on a plane. Will the next/future school attacks all be with guns, or will it be some version of guys will box cutters taking over a plane?

I feel really bad for what happened in Florida and for every shooting, but everything that is being done to try and fix it is just flesh wounds. I think the real way to fix this would be have people more involved in their community, and with their family. How do we get everyone to do that? I don't know, if I did I would probably try to implement it.

I know that's rhetorical but if I had to venture a genuine guess it's probably zero. That's not "cool." Instagramming you and your buddies standing in the shape of a heart when you walk out of your exams is - and then nothing; but at least people felt like they were changing the world for 17 minutes.

The problem is these teenagers know nothing about gun control, nothing about the debate... seems to be it's just an excuse to leave their classes (that they're failing) for 17 minutes, so they can "Snapchat" their experience.
