Are these reputable job positions? (list inside)
I've been doing some research on my school ( a non target) and I came across an old list of some jobs people get that graduate with business degrees.
Analyst, Goldman Sachs
Financial Analyst, Merrill Lynch
Investment Banking Analyst, Bear Stearns
Financial Analyst, Lehman Brothers
Associate, Hedge Fund Strategies Group, Goldman Sachs & Co.
Analyst, JP Morgan Chase
Analyst, Goldman Sachs
Business Valuation, Ernst & Young
Consulting Analyst, Accenture
Analyst, Goldman Sachs
Financial Analyst, Lehman Brothers
Financial Analyst, Merrill Lynch
Analyst, Goldman Sachs & Co.
Financial Associate, Chase Manhattan
Associate, Goldman Sachs & Co.
Finance Analyst, Goldman Sachs.
Financial Associate, Prudential Financial
Financial Leadership Development Program, J & J
Financial Management Trainee, AT&T
Internal Auditor, Procter & Gamble
Investment Assistant, Bankers Trust
Investment Banking Analyst, Bear Sterns
Operations Analyst, Deutsche Bank
Underwriter, Chubb & Son
There are probably some repeats.
Yes
No, those are all pretty crap jobs. Do you go to Mississippi state or something?
Very legit, in fact I question your self-identification as a "non-target".
I sense a bit of sarcasm. Come on, please be honest.
is this post a joke? Bear Sterns?
I said the list is old. I'm going to continue looking for a more recent one.
that wasn't the point...its Bear Stearns, not Sterns
Thanks for pointing that out. But how does the list look
Like I said, the list is pretty poor tbh. Most of those roles are back office crap at middle market firms based out of Delaware. I've never even heard of Goldman Sachs or Morgan Stanley. Bear Stearns is about the only solid bank on that list tbh.
Hilarious! Laughing my head off!
The list is solid. But exactly how big is each Rutgers undergrad business class? Nearly 1000? I'd bet you that most of the 20 kids that got good jobs had been well-connected to the industry from the start. You've got to stop worrying about what is possible for you and start acting on what you CAN do from now on.
Kind of related question, but is a Finance / Financial Analyst the same as an Investment Banking Analyst? If not, what does a Finance / Financial Analyst do (are they in the Treasury Department or something)?
The list itself is fine, but it doesn't prove anything. It doesn't mention office location, time frame, and number of jobs, size of class, etc. Nor does it provide any insight into how those jobs were secured.
But dude, why are you so insecure? Stop worrying about others and just try your best. If you fail, you'll have no regrets.
That list could be skewed to only show the good jobs. If the school wants to advertise itself, it is only going to show a list of the most prestigious positions, and could ignore where 90% of the school went to work/unable to find work.
In addition, those who did get these positions may have gotten them by family connections.
