Northwestern for Management Consulting
I am a student at Northwestern planning to pursue a career in management consulting.
Although Northwestern is a good school, I get the feeling that it does not have a very strong reputation in the consulting world.
Would I be better off transferring to Columbia, Penn, or UChicago given that I have the necessary scores and ECs to do so?
Northwestern is one of the top target schools for consulting, easily Top 10 in the country.
If you can’t get into consulting at Northwestern, you wouldn’t get into consulting from Harvard. There’s a good 20-25 people going to Chicago office MBBs alone. The only school that outplaces Northwestern in the Chicago offices (the second biggest office in the US for most firms) is Michigan, but that’s mostly due to their size.
Do you guys think MBB's connection with Kellogg has an influence on undergraduate recruiting at Northwestern?
Northwestern undergrad and Kellogg both have separate, dedicated recruiting teams and processes.
How well would Northwestern undergraduates do in Hong Kong and Singapore in terms of consulting? What is Northwestern's reputation like there?
Campus recruiting is for US offices only. If you want to go to an APAC office, it’s a completely different processes, and you’ll have to get into contact with a recruiter there to learn more.
Northwestern is a huge target for consulting. No need to transfer unless you're unhappy at Northwestern. 50+% of my Chicago office UG's are from NW.
