Year End Comp - How does it work?

So I started a new job back in September doing cmbs in NYC as an analyst. Basically wondering how year end bonuses and raises work if you joined firm in the latter half of the year?

I know I wouldn't get a full bonus as opposed to another analyst who has been here for the full year or longer, but could I expect to get a pro-rated bonus? Also, do I have any cards to play in negotiating a raise? I think it's fair to say I am doing a good job at work as I get staffed on a lot of the good deals that come our way and have been supporting originators in every which way possible, so I think I will get a good YE review. I am getting paid fairly, but am confident that other cmbs shops may pay their analysts more than what I currently make ($70-$80k base).

I get it is shop dependent, but I am curious. Also, FWIW, my shop is about 50 employees, operates as a quasi lender/debt fund (bridge, mezz, pref equity, cmbs, agency), and are about to close on our second fund. I am also 2.5 years out of school.

Thanks

Given the late start, I wouldn't expect too much. If I had to guess, I would say $10K-$20K.

As others have said - prorated bonus.

It's far too early to ask for a raise though. Depending on your company, you might get a small percentage raise along with everyone, but you certainly haven't accomplished enough in 2 months to ask for one.
