Top groups Wells Fargo

Currently going through the placement process at Wells Fargo and curious what the top groups are. I found some old posts, but nothing recently. Which groups would you recommend?

What are your thoughts on their sponsors group? I have read that it was good in the past but I imagine the conservative nature of the bank must get them.

Also curious on the strength of the REGAL group.
I appreciate the help!

In no order: Lev Fin, Real Estate, Sponsors, Energy & Power, Industrials

Do you know how their REGL group has performed recently? When WF sold Eastdil, the deal said that they would keep Eastdil's REIB team.

Energy and Power, LevFin, Industrials, then Sponsors. In that order (best to worst). E&P was highest in M&A revenue last year, followed by Industrials then HC. LevFin topped total fees generated.

The conservative nature of WF's credit culture is a double edged sword. When you look through the history of the Bank you can tell why its a philosophy they want to continue to stick with, but at the same time it can absolutely get frustrating when you fracture relationships and lose out on deals and ancillary business due to credit being too conservative. I think the Bank knows it needs to loosen up a bit to be more competitive on the IB front, and I think its moving in the right direction, but still has a ways to go.

The REGAL Group is strong, and IMO one of the better groups to work for. While I can't speak for the group before the sale of Eastdil, there is still a strong partnership there and that culture hasn't left which makes it unique to other groups in the Bank. Of all the lending groups within the Bank, CRE is probably the best which is a huge help to the REGAL Group overall.

It depends on your goals.

LevFin brings in the most revenue but does not model, so exit opps get limited to Credit or Corporate roles. Very respected group though.

If you are looking for more “traditional” banking opportunities, Industrials and Energy are your best bets. They are consistently the strongest coverage groups in the bank. The M&A group is not strong at all, not sure why others mentioned it as such.

Bump. Have to rank the groups can anybody provide insight on best NYC ones? There's C&R, FIG, Healthcare, Industrials, TMT, REGAL, M&A, ECM, Pub Fin, and Real Estate Syndicated finance. LevFin is in Charlotte
