Networking Call Help
I have a networking call with an associate at an EB on Friday and would appreciate some advice. I have some questions prepared and was wondering how to go about asking him to connect me with someone else in his group.
Also, I've heard an associate at an EB can be enough to get an interview. So, I'm also wondering how I should go about asking for him to push my resume. I was planning on saying something along the lines of "I really enjoyed hearing about your career and experience at xxx firm and xxx firm is my number 1 choice. How can I best position myself for an internship with xxx firm." Is this a good way to hint at it?
Any advice is appreciated.
Kinda new so please don't roast. Thanks.
I never really bring it up during the phone call, but everyone networks differently. I usually throw the request for another contact at the end of my thank you email, which i send the day after speaking with someone, unless on Friday, because then I will send on Monday. If you have a genuine conversation with someone they will help you out. Don't worry so much about asking for more contacts, but rather making a good connection. In some cases all you need is one fucker to go to bat for you when the time comes
Thanks for your insight. I’m just worried that with interviews starting soon, I’ll miss the boat.
Kids who want to break in need to change their mindset of "how will I get this guy to push my resume" to "hey let me actually try to just form a genuine connection with this guy and if it seems appropriate ask him down the line"
i'm most likely not going to push your resume the first time we chat unless I just really like you or you really impressed me which is not really that often
What does it take to impress you?

OP here. My mindset isn't "push my resume or bust" but assuming all goes well, I would need to ask at some point in the future and am curious as to how I should go about asking. My first goal is obviously to make a genuine connection.
How do you form a connection with someone you're speaking to for the first time though? What does it take to get you to like a candidate
How on Earth have you made it 18+ years in life?
You’re asking how you interact with people you’re meeting for the first time. You’ve met thousands of people for the first time by now.
People in finance aren’t robots. Gauge the conversation, relax, be respectful but follow the flow. Just like you would in ANY OTHER SITUATION.
