Does a CFA unlock doors for you?

Caution.. this is a tale of disappointment.
I am one like the plethora (not really!) that sacrificed quite a bit to get the charter. Why did I do it? Well, the curriculum is unmatched in terms of its depth. So yeah, the academic pedigree is a plus. But, I was really hoping for a career related reward from it.
Are there other folks out there who wanted to get a bump/ break through but are still stuck?

I've seen some old threads here where people have said that. I decided to take the plunge but I'm hoping to clear L1 and then try to leverage that as much as I can, which may be not at all.
