Received my PWP rejection email!
Thank you very much for applying to the Corporate Advisory Internship Programme - July 2021 opportunity.
After review, unfortunately we will not be proceeding with your application at this time.
To summarize, I:
- Wrote a fucking essay about what I would like to achieve as an intern at Perella Weinberg Partners
- Wrote a fucking essay to explain what title I would give to the autobiography of my life
- Wrote a fucking essay about the alternatives to M&A for a company
- Wrote a fucking essay about a PWP deal while trying to sound genuinely thrilled
- Wrote a fucking essay about which question I would like to ask Dietrich Becker if given the opportunity, as if I gave a fuck about that guy
We sincerely appreciate your time and interest in Perella Weinberg Partners and wish you the best for the future.
Yeah fuck you
Yeah just got mine too - can’t believe I wrote out all that shit for nothing. Fuck Dartmouth Partners. Bet they don’t even read them
Recruiters don't know shit about finance, 100% this was CV-based.
At least you didn't waste further 15min of your life for a perfect call with madame M from Dartmouth Partners just to get rejected right after that
You got 1 MS? I think we all know where that came from.
How long after the call did u receive the rejection? I just had mine today but for an off-cycle in london
Pretty sure those essays are just meant to decrease the number of applicants, I know someone who literally wrote gibberish and still got an interview.
probably more out of a need to cover thier ass from lawsuits. "you didn't hire me because [interest discriminatory practice here]" then they clap back with "well actually we don't like you because [anything you wrote]"
Last year I tried with "Wanna know me? Hire me", but did not work out well
Im at a top target and apparently All of Oxbridge/LSE finance societies are considering banning PWP from their campuses after this years antics.
What has happened to be thinking about it?
Doesnt sound realistic that it would happen tho
Lol would never happen anyways, it's like saying that people will stop applying to Moelis after the email that leaked, it's non sense. The societies take pride in having PWP as a sponsor and tbf if society A doesn't take their sponsorship, society B will. Not that I work at PWP lol.
Well just because a School doesn't do allow "On Campus Recruiting" doesn't mean a club can't bring them in.
LSE definitely is not lol
This is wrong
Can confirm this is true
Can confirm this is complete BS, at least for my friend's school among the LSE/Oxbridge camp...
just sounds like a rumor from someone irritated they didn't make it through recruitment
lol, imagine thinking the banks don't hold ALL the cards when it comes to campus recruiting...
As an recent ex-President of one of the mentioned societies I can assure you this isn't true. Societies will take sponsorship from whichever bank they can, and PWP is a big enough name for it to look good on the society's roster.
eh my interviewer forgot they had an interview with me
They should have done some hirevues too
+SB Wish I could shower your post with more.
This isnt a college application lmao
Maybe it is different in London ?
True, forgot how wack London recruiting is
When you guys say essay, how many words for each response?
250
Yikes, super annoying.
brings back the applying to rothschild days lol
The Dartmouth Partners PWP team once interviewed me on the train. I tried to reschedule, but the interviewer told me that my chance to interview was "now or never". So I had to do a full 15min behavioural interview on a packed rush hour overground train.
this is my worst nightmare. did it go well?
Going to take a shot in the dark and assume by the resentful tone of their post that it did not
Lmao, the criteria for me not to apply was an application requesting a cover letter. Fuck this noise
Literally every IB application in London requires to send a cover letter
Wow, that's absurd. It probably goes without saying, but the US is way different in terms of recruiting requirements.
rah, do you not have to do Cover Letters in NY?
The vast majority of applications don't require it.
The banks like GS/BofA explicitly say that no one reads them and that's why they don't require it
My experience with Dartmouth Partners had always been so bad that I stopped applying to banks that recruited through them. I had two instances of my interviewer forgetting about the call with one of them emailing me 15 minutes after the start time to reschedule.
absolutely the same bro
This needs to be flagged actually. They have been consistently unprofessional.
One of them drunk dialled a former colleague’s friend whom they had interviewed earlier in the day.....
The truth behind PWP London recruiting is that:
Looking at the list of employees at PWP in London (approx 100 people, source: Linkedin) one can notice interesting patterns:
Anyone applied for the French coverage off cycle in London that starts in July 2021? I just got the 15min interview.... reading all these comments is kinda scaring me haha especially since i got interviewed by M. from Dartmouth..
Genuinely curious to see what might happen if someone were to create a burner email account and email the (in-house) HR saying they would like to withdraw their application due to DP’s unprofessional attitude. Maybe link this thread or one of the other ones on WSO about DP in the email.
Copying Madame M from DP lol.
What the fuck is Dartmouth partners and who the fuck is madame m
hahah Dartmouth is a recruiting agency in London, pwp hires them for the first 2 rounds. Madam m (i guess people don't wanna mention her full name) is one of the HR from Dartmouth
Madame. Was a good interviewer for NYC... maybe I was lucky
I went through the same shit last year. The worst thing is that you spent 2 or 3 hours working your arse off to impress and prove that you are really interested, and then they don’t even read it.
Asking for essays and cover letters is the most dumbest and most annoying thing banks can do. Usually analysts spend between 3 and 8 seconds on a CV, how the hell are the supposed to read a cover letter?
Having said that, Dartmouth Parters are the absolutely worse in London recruiting. Unless you already have a top brand name on your CV, you are wasting your time.
Damn are you guys mad about your rejection lmao
If you had to go through that much shit just for the rejection, I'm sure you would be too. Just seems like a ridiculous, over-the-top process for applicants. There are easier ways to weed people out before the interview.
Well, actually I got through the whole process last year (internship) and this year (full time). Dropped out towards the end as I both times got another offer in the meantime. Still, those questions take like 15 minutes to answer, first round interview is usually 5 minutes, second round 45-60 minutes. As most people argue about step 1 and 2, there are dozens of other programs around with processes that are a) more time consuming and b) way more annoying.
What is pwp
This type of shit pisses me off. When firms think that they're so special that they demand 3-5 hours from each applicant's time.
It's always the mid-tier firms with a chip on their shoulder
Not sure I'd describe pwp as mid-tier.
In London they are.
I applied to the London/Paris office off-cycle internship for January 2021. Just got a rejection for "(Paris)" - when I emailed to ask about London, they told me that there was a never a London opening. I then replied with a screenshot of the original job ad which showed London, and they give a non-answer and say apologies for the confusion. Avoid Dartmouth.
I was the exact same - was so confused and just got a slap on the face when asked them
Yo is PWP still recruiting for FT 2021 in London? Are there still open spots?
i heard its a sweatshop anyways... specially the restructuring team... analysts are requested to pitch 2 new names per week on top of live deals. Friday 6pm staffings are the norm...
What do you mean "Friday 6 pm staffing"... as in you have to work all weekend? There are no protected days??
Most people here would still suck a dick or 2 to get in... me included *smh* no homo.
I have heard the staffer is a pimp
Just copy paste google crap man, nobody reads that shit. I got the AC LOL
Is this for summer analyst or graduate? when did u apply and is the AC online?
I applied mid-September but for Paris Off-Cycle. AC are online.
Bump
