Actuary to M&A
Needed some advice:
I currently work as an actuarial associate at a large consultancy and have been offered a job in M&A at a BB.
Have some level of exposure to IB as I worked in markets prior to working as an actuary - so know about the lifestyle etc...
My main issue is that I am not sure how the M&A market is shaping up - in particular in Europe. Do you guys think it is a good time to join M&A in a junior role or to hold out and continue working as an actuary.
You should absolutely take the junior role in M&A if it is something that interests you. Assuming you have passed a good chunk of your exams, you'll always be able to find a job in the actuarial field. The reverse may not be true.
Thanks - its been a pretty tough decision for me. I still have a long way to go with exams - only really scraped the surface. If I take the job - might still try and do the qualification over a longer period of time
