Am I making the right decision (Summer Opportunities)?

Hi All,

A while back I received a verbal offer to intern this summer at a notable tech company in the San Francisco Bay area doing business operations type work. It's not a Google or Facebook, but pretty close in terms of popularity/notoriety and the product is really interesting. Anyways, I initially had my heart set out on strategy consulting but I struck out at the few opportunities I had with firms. My severely low gpa played a partial role in my lack of success, I should note and will probably hinder me in terms of full time opportunities. Luckily I have the offer at the tech firm.

I also recently received an interview invitation for an intern position with Booz Allen Hamilton and I was wondering if it was worth pursuing. The position is client-facing but I'm not too sure about what exact group or department I might be placed. I know Booz Allen Hamilton typically does government contract work and it's projects aren't strategy oriented but I figured it's still a notable consulting firm and I was wondering what the best route would be to take for after concluding my junior year in college.

So, what will it be tech at a notable company or consulting? I'm leaning towards the tech firm as I already have the offer, it's a good name with an interesting product and it's pretty late in the game to continue in the recruiting process. I'm just worried I'm missing out on an opportunity because it is consulting with Booz Allen Hamilton and the game is competitive. Let's say that my intention is to go into full time consulting and/or M7 B-School in the future. And, please keep in mind my chances as it relates to my GPA which at the moment isn't going anywhere. Aside from it, my overall candidacy is pretty solid.

I say tech firm as well. Definitely if you want to go into tech. But also if you plan to rerecruit for FT, there's something to be said for the 'sexiness' factor. Biz ops at a cool tech company is probably going to lead to more interesting and impactful stories than being consultant #571 at some US gov't department.
