Shorting property.
I'm looking to short specific regions of the Australian property market, particularly those with high mining exposure. My thesis is that the Aus mining boom is coming to a close, and that lenders and mortgage insurers are tightening lending restrictions in these areas, particularly for investors.
Is there any way to do this? The only thing I can think of is shorting REIT funds with high exposure to the particular area.
Any insight is appreciated.
Interested in this as well, considering all the Chinese investment (as well as domestic) pumping up property valuations to absurd prices.
