Private Credit Interview
I have an upcoming second round interview at a private credit firm, and trying to get any insight on how to properly prepare. I have been in the credit lending space for the last couple years, but we specifically do senior lending. The firm I am interviewing at primarily does direct lending but also participates in mezz and co-equity investments. Can anyone expand on some of the following for me:
1) What to expect in terms of technical questions?
2) How to properly distinguish where to invest across the capital structure? Or where to read up on some of this stuff?
3) Any general tips/tricks
What’s your current experience / role specifically? U said you’re in the credit space doing senior lending - can u be more specific / give an example? Final round I’d be prepared to do a case study
I work for a large national bank, in their commercial lending space. My title is a financial analyst, with main responsibilities being underwriting, new deal work, quarterly/annual reporting, and creating pitch-books. We primarily do lines of credit, term loans, commercial cards, etc. for any number of different reasons (acquisitions, recaps, working capital, refinances, etc.).

Can you copy n paste the job description?
1) What to expect in terms of technical questions?
-if you get to final round, expect a case study
-depending how the conversation flows, you should be expected to know the job skills to do the job day 1, including - synthesizing and interpreting info from 10K/10Q, Ratings Reports, Compliance Cert, Credit Agreement, Credit risks and mitigants, etc. - as your competitors will know it
2) How to properly distinguish where to invest across the capital structure? Or where to read up on some of this stuff?
-do you have access or a friend w/ access to LCD, LevFin Insights, even Loanconnector for Loan Market Updates / Weekly Updates? I would read those and understand
Bump, wondering how a second round would be different from first round if there isn't a case study yet
