Breaking into Wall Street - Financial Modeling training

Hey,

For the ones that bought the Breaking into Wall Street Financial Modeling Training package, what are you guys thinking about it so far??!?

Good content?? Or it is only good marketing??

Some friends saying it is way too basic and were expecting more...
Any thoughts??

I bought the program this Monday when it launched and I've been very impressed with it so far. For what I paid ($147), the program includes everything you could possibly need for summer and fall recruitment interviews. The material is straightforward and covers a wide range of topics (from accounting fundamentals to basic LBO modeling). The program may be too basic for someone with experience in IB already, but its target audience is clearly undergrads and non-industry professionals looking to make the jump to banking. At this price point, compared to everything else out there, I highly recommend it.

To respond to your concerns: it shows you how to create projections, valuations, and merger/LBO models from the ground up.

As I said in everything leading up to this, it is not for you if you already know how to do all that. If you can already create all those models starting from nothing, then it's not for you. There's a full outline to exactly what is covered in the links listed above.

There will be additional content, case studies etc. added over time as I've already received some really good ideas/requests.

If you're not happy, I do provide the money-back guarantee as I do with everything else offered on the site.

Have signed up for the complete package myself. Very detailed and in-depth programme with everything made clear and well-explained. The basic package includes Excel Fundamentals and Financial Modelling Fundamentals, with a combined 43 hours of video as Waymon3x6 stated.

However, only recently there has been an updated New Excel Fundamentals course which I think is even more detailed than the previous version. You get access to both the old and new versions when signing up, but probably only want to cover the newer version for modern versions of Excel.

Would definitely recommend signing up to the courses, but they certainly take a fair amount of time to complete. Also note that although there is around 40 hours of video to sit through, each video involves an exercise whereby you pause the video, complete the exercise and then resume the video to watch the walkthrough. This can add on anything from 2mins to 30mins for the standard exercises depending on the difficulty.

As a rough estimate, I'd say you would have to dedicate at least 6 hours per day Mon - Fri to complete the course in 2 weeks, provided you only studied the newer version of the Excel course.

Hope this helps out.

It depends if you just watch them or actually work in Excel along with the videos. There are 43 hours of lectures recorded. With the brakes for your inputs it probably takes longer than that.

No idea what the prices are like now, but I got in on BIWS when it was just starting out, so got it at an amazing price.

But I will say the BIWS program is definitely stellar. Brian of M&I is the founder and it's very clear from the materials and videos that he puts in the time to bring a quality product. What he does extremely well is explain the "why" behind why things are done, not just the steps on how to model or how to value a company.

Check out his site and his youtube channel on some of the sample case studies he's provided for free to get an idea of his teaching approach.

I bought the fundamental courses, and now I am reading R&P. thereafter, I am going to buy the advanced course. I figure this should be a really good foundation.

I've also bought the PP and excellence with excel course, and I have been very satisfied with everything.

Do you have a link to the excellence with excel course? I'm looking to brush up on my shortcut skills. I didn't see it on their site. Or is it part of one of their packages?

The only portion I didn't like about the course (the advanced modeling one) was that the example was a bit too specialized and difficult to reproduce for other companies.

The basic modeling one I thought was a good intro...but again, it's quite different from how banks actually do their models these days. Still, it's helpful for understanding the concepts.

That's interesting. What are banks doing differently these days?

Business, always business.
