IR to ER
Hi all,
I am currently 4 years into IR (2 years full-time post-undergrad) for a small-cap firm and am considering a transition to ER.
Curious to hear y’all’s thoughts on how I can make such a transition, I.e. are there any specific ways I should tailor my resume to speak on how IR has prepared me for ER, etc.
The way I've seen this done is basically using the network of analysts you gain while at IR. I.e. these people lateral within the same sector into teams they previously served on the corporate side.
Good to know. By this, do you mean reaching out to the exact analysts/associates I've worked with and basically saying "hey, would love to join y'all"?
I don't know the details but yes basically.
had a lot of success doing that. IR awards you a large network to leverage across banking/ER
I'm an associate on the sellside. Maybe our firms can do a prisoner swap
I've got about 10 years in IR, looking to do the same thing. Without sharing too much info someone I previously worked under is launching his own fund as he has a lot of contacts I'm going to try asking to work under him I dont think its possible to break in without some sort of network honestly or worst case, MBA
