O&G ER in NYC

Lots of acronyms, damn.

Anyways, I'm in a very energy focused city (ie Calgary) and am on the trail to get into ER covering E&P, or possibly services. That's all good and proper and whatever. But one thing that's always been on my list is to move to NYC at least for a few years. So how much demand is over there for O&G coverage? Would an experienced associate covering Canadian domestic producers have a decent case (or even an advantage) to get a job in NYC? Houston and Calgary are energy centers, but I have no idea about New York.

I ask because I know O&G pretty good, but since I ultimately want to end up in NY I'd rather find out now than later if I should be pursuing a different sector.
