Good watches around $3K

Hey all, current sophomore summer analyst. Wanted to get myself a nice watch around the $3K range, but don’t want to get something that will look weird for a kid of my age to own. I was thinking an omega seamaster but would also appreciate other recommendations. Thanks!

Tudor Black Bay 58/36 or Cartier Tank, full-stop.

The Black Bay line can be had at ~$3k lightly used with the BB58 and BB36 (new and old version) both being accurate, well-sized, water resistant, and versatile pieces from a great brand. If you're a dress watch fan, then the Cartier Tank is a no brainer. There are plenty of lightly used Tank's that are available at ~$3k. Just be mindful that the watch will be quartz and won't have the same durability as the Tudor.

If the above two styles don't resonate with you, then look at Oris (Big Crown, Aquis, or Diver 65), Nomos (Club, Tangente, Orion, etc.), or Longines (Spirit, Spirit Zulu Time, or Master Collection). If you are willing to look at 10+ years old to neo-vintage watches then you can include IWC (Portofino) or Rolex (Datejust, Oyster Perpetual, or Air King).

Lastly, I know you mentioned the Omega Seamaster and while its a great watch how many good condition, automatic Seamaster's are there from reputable sellers for $3k? Surface level a lot of Seamaster's appear for ~$3k, but I question how much watch you are getting for the price. I'd save up more money and wait to buy this down the road to 1) get a newer/better condition watch and/or 2) see if there is a style revamp in the next couple years.

If you want to save money, consider the Tissot PRX. It's only $725 and looks a lot nicer than it costs. Very similar to an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra if you like that look. Good for both the office and the weekend. Also has a solid reputation among watch people.

Other than that, fully agree with joshw12's comment. If you're set on a diver, then the Black Bay is an excellent pick.

For 3k you’ll either get a luxury brand quartz (if that) or a semi luxury automatic (again, if that). Something to consider is wrist size. If you have normal to large wrists don’t get a watch under 39mm. This rules out 36mm datejust.

I second oris and longines. Maybe a tag quartz. Or a bell&ross or Christopher ward. They are less desired brands hence the lower price but high quality.
