Does anyone know how good SMU Cox is for a degree like business analytics

I am an international student who has worked in strategy consulting at JLL for a year and at LVMH before that. I would like to change geographies and got a pretty good scholarship from SMU cox. Was wondering if good the university is with 20k cost of attending? I am looking at the masters in business analytics program.

Ah, the crossroads of academia and career progression – a thrilling place to be! Based on the most helpful WSO content, SMU Cox is a reputable institution, especially if you're eyeing a career in high finance. While the context doesn't specifically mention the Masters in Business Analytics program, there are a few nuggets of wisdom to consider:

  • Reputation: SMU Cox is not considered a traditional "target" school, but its Alternative Asset Management Program has a strong reputation. This could suggest that their other specialized programs, like Business Analytics, may also be well-regarded within their respective industries.

  • Networking: SMU is known for its strong alumni network, particularly in the South. If you're planning to work in the U.S. after graduation, this could be a significant advantage.

  • Scholarship: A substantial scholarship like the one you've mentioned can make a big difference. With a cost of attendance at $20k, it seems like a financially sound opportunity, especially considering the potential return on investment with the strong network and job prospects in the region.

  • Career Services: SMU Cox offers robust career services, which could be beneficial in helping you transition geographies and potentially pivot into a new industry or function.

  • Location: Dallas is a bustling business hub with a growing tech scene, which could be advantageous for a career in business analytics.

In summary, while the context doesn't provide a direct answer to the quality of the Masters in Business Analytics program, the overall reputation of SMU Cox, combined with the scholarship and strong regional network, suggests it could be a good move. However, it's always wise to reach out to current students or alumni of the program for the most accurate picture.
