Why not look at cvp - arguably most dominant in life sciences. R u only recruiting for bbs

I would not bother outside of GS/JPM…M&A is dominated by CVP.. literally like 90% market share in Biotech.. (Other banks will have strengths as well, for example Gugg dominates the MedTech market. You will get on big deals from a BB tho for sure! But judging by what you said about wanting to "start" your career at a BB, it may not be wise to go to a BB bank that will never be exclusive advisors to the biggest deals. I would argue other EBs such as PWP, Evercore, Gugg, and Lazard will be a much much better experience. (PWP doesnt seem TOO hard, but I heard Evercore and Lazard's process was intense for their SF HC groups and insanely sweaty)I would say your experience will be somewhat of the following only.CVP/GS/JPM >>>> Gugg/Lazard/Evercore/PWP >Jefferies (Honestly would argue for same tier as above, but the drop in brand and percueved prestige cannot be ignored) >> solid boutiques and mms such as Cowen, Piper, SVB, and Cain Bros >> Irrelevant BBs

Edit: If you care about placing into PE ignore everything I said lol even the mid BBs will get you good looks, but you will not get that at mm banks.

I would take any of the EBs over it… I would personally take any of the MMs I listed above (just bc I aspire ti be a career banker), BUT do choose MS if you plan on moving to the buy-side. (Industry exits will be just as strong at MMs)

Comparing it to the rest of the BBs..? TBH, I do not have much info on these BBs lol. Ik barclays, cs, and MS has HC groups for sure. Not even sure about UBS, DB, nor BAML. Thats how irrelevant they are lol… fun fact, UBS HC in SF used to contend for top 3 spots and was favored the most amongst JPM and GS lol.

If you care about experience + exit I would take a bank like Jefferies too. Much better experience and will get the same looks.

Coming from someone trying to lateral into PCA/low-tier MM you should stop talking down on some of the best BB and EBs lmao
