Inter-office geographic transfers as a PE associate?

Hi everyone. I’m currently interviewing for a few pre-MBA PE opportunities at top global megafunds and upper middle market firms. The positions are in emerging market locations (think China, Brazil, Singapore, South Africa, etc) with very small classes (~3 associates per office). My goal is to work in the US at a mega fund, but since the main on cycle 2019 process has come and gone and I come from a consulting background, those opportunities are not plentiful.

My question is for those of you who work at funds with multiple offices internationally: assuming visas/immigration are not an issue and you are a top performer, are there actual, regular opportunities to transfer to US/European offices at some point even for a short term period? Is this something you have done or seen others do? Or am I setting myself up to get stuck halfway across the planet for all eternity? Anything from a permanent transfer after year 2 of the associate program to a 3 month stint some time during the two years would be interesting to hear about.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Greenwich517, whoops, looks like nobody chimed in here.... maybe one of these discussions below is relevant:
