Breaking into IB as an Indian

Hey there, I am currently pursuing my bachelors from Bangalore(India) and I was looking forward to do mba from top b schools. the reason is the same thing that you have said(to break into front office IB). 8-10 years from now I really want to be working at top PE fund and for that I am dreaming of getting into IB. I have came to know that it is extremely difficult to enter IB in India compared to other nations like US,UK,Hong Kong etc. which route would you recommend to get into IB? should i try for top b schools in india or should I go for the GMAT instead of CAT? please help me out here and give advice.

The Indian IB market is incredibly oversaturated and there are a bunch of people like you and you probably won't make it.

Your Indian MBA or any degree for thst matter will hold no weight in recruiting abroad.

You should target to do a Masters at a target school and a target degree for that matter in Europe or the US to break in.

US masters don’t recruit for IB. US MBAs that have gone on to do IB post MBA have had IB/TAS experience in India. Most of them come to their MBA with BB FO experience. EU masters is probably the easiest choice of the three, but then options are very limited. Mainland EU is a no go due to language barriers which leaves us with UK. OP can try his luck breaking into LSE or other similar programs without stellar grades/work experience.
