Dug a hole for myself. Help needed

Just finished my first year of college at Stern with what I predict will be a 3.09 GPA. Had an absolutely horrible first semester, played all my cards wrong, learned nothing from it, made the same mistakes in the second one.

I’ve had a tough time moving to a new city and having a death in the family. I didn’t put in the work and now am in a position where I essentially need to ace every single class from now on to make the bare minimum GPA for recruiters. to make matters worse, I barely know anything about technicals or how to network. I’m unhealthy, have poor sleep habits and eat like crap. I’ve completely wasted my first year of college and now have to play some serious catch up.

Real disappointed at myself - worked decently hard to get where I am just to take a massive steaming dump all over it. Give it to me straight, what can I do this summer to give myself a fighting chance for 2025/2026 internships?

I won’t lie. An internship will be unspeakably tough unless you’re going to a lower tier bank and assuming you get all A’s next semester (which who cares about prestige other than the exit opportunities), but you will have enough time to recover grades and go for the FT offer from anywhere you can get it. It might have to look like an “odd” path to some, but in reality the 2+2 analyst associate straight out of college pathway is not the only way, sometimes it just takes a little bit longer

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.
