Notre Dame or Imperial for Quant/Trading roles in the US
Hi,
my nephew has offers from both Imperial (Elec Engineering) and Notre Dame( undeclared major) for this upcoming fall. He is interested in getting into a trading role such as commodities trading/fixed income trading/quant and to a lesser extent a high finance role in ER/PE.
His preference is to go to Imperial due to its reputation and the opportunity to study in London and studying engineering as that is what he is most interested in. Though the concern is how US employers will view his foreign university and degree when applying for internships and recruiting, do you think going to Imperial over ND is a bad choice?
In another scenario, is it possible achieve the same through attending ND?
Note: He has work authorization in both the US & UK
Thanks!
Current ND senior here. Definitely not a super strong school for quant but there are kids in my grade with quant trading jobs lined up at Citadel and Jane Street as well as some smaller firms. Definitely not a target school for quant trading but definitely possible to break into if you’re smart enough and on top of it. Have no idea about Imperial so can’t really offer a comparison
Thanks for you comment!
Do you know if those students are within the Mendoza school? Or does the business school play a significant role in their recruiting?
