Pension funds, used to thinking in decades, have been thrown into real-time firefighting mode by the crisis roiling British markets.

Many U.K. pensions are rushing to raise cash to satisfy collateral calls triggered by rapid moves in usually staid government bonds. Adding to the urgency: the Bank of England’s plans to end its emergency bond-buying this Friday, after which many fear volatility could surge again.

Andrew Bailey, the central bank’s governor, reiterated to pension funds on Tuesday that they had just days left to act, warning: “You’ve got to get this done.”

There are probably 30+ Houston traders on this forum, and some pretty heavy hitters too

Super chill office culture. Interns just dress nice, tailored clothes but nothing that says "i'm a douche" like guady belts or rollies. We had an intern that dressed like he came outta the trailer park and he turned out to be an absolute rock star

Live in Midtown, Montrose or Washington corridor.

I'd say Midtown over Montrose unless... you know. Some downtown places are fine, and if you can swing it River Oaks shopping district is cool too (though has become more popular with successful drug dealers as of late).

Higher crime rates (loads of car break ins), the bars there (which I do enjoy from time to time) bring an interesting crowd, smaller sized apartments for equal $$, limited green space. I’m not saying avoid doing things there, I was just there a few hours ago in fact, but there are far better places to live IMO

Not necessarily saying the energy corridor is for families- most people I know there are either single or in a relationship w/o kids. Just further away from the city. Could be good for an introvert who will only do stuff in the city/heights/Montrose/eado on occasion. Think this is a good option for 3 years out of college, just not right away

Honestly, can’t say I’ve ever been a distinctly “country” bar in Houston where any 2 stepping would take place. That’s not really my thing, but I know a little bit outside of town they have these massive “country” venues where people go drink and dance. Could be worth looking into

edit: imo, the actual houston nightlife is not that great. I just think it’s the best place in the US(no question) to grow up.
