Pinstripe Suit Question

Hello,

I am about to commence my summer analyst role in investment banking and would appreciate some guidance regarding my attire. I am considering wearing a particular suit that is of exceptional quality, arguably one of the finest at the bank. Would this be deemed appropriate for someone at the SA level within the investment banking sector?

Indeed, I pose this question earnestly. I once selected a dark navy blue suit with a subtle windowpane pattern for an occasion, which received accolades, notably from the head of investment banking. It’s essential to recognize the distinction between high-quality bespoke tailoring and the misconceptions surrounding what some might inaccurately describe as ‘mafia-style’ suits. This discrepancy reveals a profound gap in understanding the nuances of refined attire within the industry, highlighting a lack of sophistication and appreciation for classic tailoring among some of its participants.

It took seconds to spot that these are cheap suits. I found the original store where they are posted and even at that price they aren't worth it.

Avoid the suits pictured above because they have a "modern" cut with a short jacket, short sleeves, suppressed waist, poor lapel roll, and high buttoning point; makes them look like budget suits designed to cut corners on materials costs.

Rarely looks good unless you're short. Get something that drapes across your build and you can look timeless. Go to a place like Spier & Mackay or Suit Supply if you don't have access to a MTM/MTO retailer nearby.

Honestly, I wore a suit that had pinstripes as a SA last summer. The pinstripes weren't bold though, they were pretty faint. I got a lot of compliments on the suit and secured a return offer so it's not really a problem IMO, unless the pinstripes are bold and it looks like your screaming for attention.
