I would consider looking into stern ICC (the governing body of the 30 Pre-pro UG clubs) if you're absolutely certain about joining something. They cover IB/PE/VC etc. and although they sound super interesting, Im close with many different members who collectively agree they're kind of a joke. The best value that they provide are their networking events, but apparently you do not need to be a member to attend most of them- I've attended a few.
I totally agree that they could look good on your resume but its important to take into consideration that they can be quite the time commitment. If you can afford to hold up your GPA while you attending, by all means go for it. I took the part time/off-cycle intern route alongside some of my buddies and we've found it to be just as beneficial, while also getting paid.
Also its important to note, if you're looking to get into a leadership position within one of the clubs, be prepared to interview, possibly several times. Im not sure if general memberships have any barriers.

Current student, this is all speculation.
