Anybody else see VC recruiting getting a lot more competitive - is this recession driven?

A few of my friends are finding it really hard to recruit for VC or growth right now - wondering if this is recession related or just how it always is / things getting more competitive. Guessing lots of dry powder still out there but funds hesitant to deploy which makes things harder...wanted to get other folks's opinions though
