Am I screwed?
I am a junior at a highly ranked Texas private university with a major in mathematics. Due to a number of deaths in my family and being recently diagnosed with ADHD, my grades have been low. Currently I have a 2.8 gpa but have a year left to pull it up before I graduate. I just need some advice on what would be best moving forward. I’m not interested in Wall Street or any insanely competitive thing. I’m want to either stay in the Dallas area or return to my hometown of Atlanta. I’m primarily interested in either going into private wealth management or, because of my math background, working at a hedge fund. I managed to land an internship recently at a family owned investment firm.
My main reason for posting this is to ask for advice moving forward. What would be the best way to position myself for either a hedge fund or private wealth management job in these areas in light of my grades? I’m sure a major in mathematics is looked upon well, I’m just worried about grades.
Hey cheesyfeta, what a lonely thread. I'm here since nobody responded ...so maybe one of these discussions will help:
