Western Ivey Dual degree: Engineering + Ivey. Is it worth it?
I am a Canadian High school student interested in going into MBB consulting. I am debating between a degree in business or engineering. Business Pros- Easier course load, Higher Gpa(need for MBB), more time to pursue extra curricular. Engineering Pros-more technical and hard skills, I am told MBB loves engineers, more rigorous. Is there an advantage to having the engineering degree along with ivey compared to just business and it the difference worth all the extra work it takes to be an engineering student. I am a very driven student who is taking quite a rigorous course load in high school so I know I can do engineering, I'm just not sure it's worth all of the added work and stress if I can achieve the same job without it.
Based on the discussions on Wall Street Oasis, there are several points to consider when deciding between pursuing a dual degree in Engineering and Business or just a Business degree, especially if your goal is to enter management consulting at a top firm like MBB (McKinsey, Bain, BCG).

Is the Extra Work Worth It?
In conclusion, both paths can lead to a successful career in consulting. The dual degree offers a broader skill set, which can be a significant advantage, but it also comes with a higher workload. If you are confident in your ability to manage the rigorous course load while maintaining extracurricular involvement and a high GPA, the dual degree could be a worthwhile investment for your career goals.

If you’re a kid these days with an aptitude for engineering, youd be crazy NOT to get a stem degree
that doesn’t mean you have to work in the field. You can do anything you want after an engineering degree
Do Engineering + Ivey. Western Engineering is not as rough as U of T or Waterloo for grades. And you'll get an extra summer for internships.
