FAANG Letter of Reccomendation

I want to ask should I get a letter of recommendation from my colleague who is an ex-FAANG financial controller and currently a financial analyst in my team.

I ask this because I am currently interviewing with the same FAANG firm he worked for and have a good working relationship with him.

To give some context I have been interning at this F100 firm for 6 months and while I don't have too much responsibility I think he'd write a generous LOR. This person has also given me advice on how to interview with this FAANG.

Do you think it'd be wise to ask him to write a short letter of recommendation to attach to my Profile or give to HR?

I have discussed with him about my future at the current firm and he’s said being young I have to consider other options and seemed to not mind talking to me about applying to other places.
