Moelis NY vs Lazard NY vs PWP NY

niownoivninvoe god I am freaking out right now. I don't know which firm to go with. I was thinking of Moelis just from the conversations I've had with the analysts and overall vibe of the work culture but people have questioned me.female from H/W/P

For prestige I would say Lazard probably has the most with Moelis (at least NY) and Perella following closely behind. Exits are variable year to year but know that Lazard and Perella place extremely well in NY with Moelis west coast exits being stronger than NY. That being said, when it comes to firms at this level you’re splitting hairs and a lot of difference in exits is a result of personal analyst choice/preference

They're all very great banks in NYC. I would go to Moelis or PWP. They are more exciting and rapidly growing places (imo). They still have a traditional "lean" deal experience (Lazard is very bloated and hierarchal). I know people who have chosen each over the other, so I really think it comes down to the culture and fit (you want to enjoy your analyst years). Each of these firms will (equally) send you to UMM/MF PE if you work hard…Moelis = Highest deal volume…PWP = Largest average deal size…Lazard = Largest global presence…2021 US M&A total deal value / fees: 1. PWP, 2. Lazard, 3. Moelis…All have the capability to see Rx as an intern too… Congrats!

Super helpful!! Thinking between Moelis and Lazard right now… didn’t connect well with some of the people at PWP. Mind if I dm?

Thanks but I'm not an incoming summer... and I don't work at Lazard. I actually ended up joining a BB M&A team over all 3 and haven't looked back since. But yeah that's how I ranked them when I was recruiting two-ish years ago.
