Salary check during background check?
Have you ever heard about background check companies that ask the candidate's salary to its former employer?
I've inflated my salary by 30% and got offered the position but now the firm is running a background check.
I was pretty confident but on the background check provider's website it says "negative results could come from undisclosed criminal charge or significant variance in salary...".
Also, they haven't asked me to write my salary in the background check database.
Thx for your help
At least when I've done these, the background check company is very clear when you are disclosing or not disclosing salary. It's a separate process to get salary.
Next time say your salary expectations are $X, never give them your actual salary.
Ok, interesting.
In my background check data base, salary has never been mention. Just by email at the beginning of the hiring process.
Maybe I should ask my current employer (he's aware im leaving) not to disclose my salary if he gets called.
Are you not supposed to have the background check before signing the offer?
It should tell you what information they will collect from your employer so just look and see if compensation is checked. If it is and they actually find out you inflated your number I would just say something along the lines of you were basing it off a bonus/raise you are in line to get this year.
