SDSU to Investment Banking
Hi guys, I'm going into my freshman year at San Diego State, and I'm from New York. I was wondering if I can break into Investment Banking through San Diego State if I stay, or would I have to transfer after 2 years to some place like Berkeley (Haas).
If you dig through SDSU's recent alumni I've only seen a few people break in over the past few years. To be brutally honest, if you want to stay in California I'd try and transfer to another California school. Since you're already paying OOS tuition, I'd try and transfer to Berkeley, UCLA, USC. Secondary options could be CMC or UCSB.
Also you'd have to transfer over after 1 year since IB recruiting will be over by the time you start at a new school (unless you delay your grad date by a year).
I go to SDSU, I managed to break in. It’s not impossible but like any other non target candidate, you will have to work extra hard.
There’s a club on campus that helps students who want to break in.
There are students that do a year or two at SDSU and then transfer and have found success recruiting afterwards.
