MBA fit ?
Hi,
I'm thinking of an MBA in two years. I've just graduated from a semi-target with a low GPA (3.1). I did get some offers but none at top HFs (mostly because they don't hire from undergrad right away).
I recently decided that I don't want to start working right away and want to go the U.S army route. I was thinking of doing it for two years. I'm either going to be an infantry officer or intelligence officer (I find out soon which one).
I have also written the GMAT and got a 780 (it's valid for five years). My question is: Given my GMAT score, GPA, and career plans for the next two years, would I be a competitive candidate for M7 ? My top choice would be Wharton in a perfect world because I would like to break into a top SM after graduation and my friends have said Wharton does really well in HF.
I just want to make sure that my expectations are in line with reality. If M7 is out of reach after 2 years, can I do anything to improve my application? Do I need more time in the army to be competitive (as in 2 years is not enough experience?). Do I leave the army after two years and then try to break into a vet IB program and then apply?
All advice is welcome.
Thank you.
Since undergrad grades were low, you want to show that you can perform in a competitive environment. Try to do some IB or consulting as soon as possible. Maybe skip the army and hit Deloitte. The gmat Will be your saving grace here. That should get you into one of the M7 schools
