Working with an Idiotic Boss
I am a cross-functional analyst at a fairly small practice. My background is mostly geared toward being an investment/research/securities analyst. Unfortunately, the advisor is a complete idiot. He comes from an insurance salesman background and only knows the basics of investing. On multiple occasions, I have presented several positioning strategies to mitigate downside risk, convexity exposure, and investments that have yielded 20% YTD. So far he has not acted on a single idea and wants to know why the aggregate portfolio is down ~15% YTD. Not to mention the differences in analysis, on a fundamental level we are not the same. He has no idea how to operate excel, basic fundamentals metrics (EV/EBITDA), and ignores the economic data. He is the most incompetent individual I have ever met. Any good idea I have ever had, he took credit. Any poor decision he made, I was blamed. Unfortunately, I am stuck here until I am able to obtain my CFA. I would like to think it gets better, but every day is just survival. My personal portfolios are doing quite well. Any advice?
