How to switch out of real estate debt

I jumped from IB into real estate debt and I now realise this was a mistake. I am trying not to beat myself up. I've been in real estate debt for over 12 months, and I am totally lost in a way to progress into a different area of finance like private credit.

Any advice on what to do/ how to move would be great.

I keep telling myself that the hiring market in general is bad so thats why its being so hard to move.

Bump. Very interested. Have an offer I might be forced to accept for R.E debt research. Would MUCH prefer working on more generalist corporates. Anyone with insights if a switch from for example R.E debt to Hy/IG consumer is possible?
