NYC is crazy to me. Can’t believe you get a 500sqft studio without w/d for just about $3k in a decent area.

NJ is a big place. My respect for you is going to vary a lot if that's JC or Hoboken vs. Edison or the Princeton/Trenton area.
Fun fact, I almost bought a 3 & 1 rowhouse in Collingswood for $195k when I thought I was going to be in Philly long-term.

Own- Astoria $3700 all-in but I put 25% down. 2BR with a hell of a view It's inclusive of utilities and cable (with HBO) I guess we'd put it up to 3800 with the deeded parking spot.
Only $100 for a parking spot? Would assume more like $300
It's definitely way below market. The co-op is just trying to make sure that nobody leaves a car there just for the heck of it with the fee. We don't open the offer to anyone else, you need to own an apartment in the complex to get a spot, and they only allow one per apartment.
$2,800 in LCOL city which is really MCOL lately. 2BD 2BA luxury apartment with gym and pool.
I thought you were still in NYC man?
Nah - in Charleston SC now to take care of my parents until they pass, then maybe LA and eventually will go back to NYC.

Maaan what you pay for all that is what I pay for a 1BR, feelsbadman
So we were in a Luxury condo, if you want to call it that, with no pool, older like a 10-year prop; they did some big rehabs, but still. we were paying like 2950 it was 740ish sq ft, they jacked rent to like 3750 and we told them basically to F off. I found a lovely couple that owned two other properties and had kept this townhome since it was built in the late 90s. So we jumped on the chance. They were strict, with 720+ credit scores and 4x income. References. But they let us do a 2-year lease with an additional 2-year add, so seeing townhomes in the area are now 5500, I'm okay with it.
So we would have been right there with you, haha.
