moving overseas - possible?

I've been in nyc for just about three years now and i've kinda gotten my routine and my solid friend group together. i also know that i'll want to settle in the states (primarily just due to the money and friends here) so i'll be here long term. that saying, if i'm here now and i know i'll want to be back later, i've been thinking about how possible it would be to move overseas and keep a comparable standard of living/not derail career. if anyone has gone overseas to work, whether its London, HK, SG, etc., i'd be curious as to how you did it (internal transfer, got a job offer, etc.) and any downsides/upsides career wise.

i'm also not really interested in Middle East, so if that were my only option i'd probably just stay in the states :P
