Hamilton Lane Secondaries
Hi, does anyone have info on comp ranges for Sr. associate, VP, Principal? Other than that, any market perception on the group? I know they have high quality FoFs but not sure on their secondaries.

have heard the shop in general pay below street by a far margin
Any idea what that means from a $ perspective? I know they don't charge a lot in carry.

From what I’ve seen their performance is horrible and they attract pretty weak talent
Can't argue that.
source?
I’ve seen their SOIs and know people who work there. Nothing about their secondaries practice is differentiated
Bump
Their talent is kind of weak...lately they've been hiring brokers to fill out sourcing roles on the investment team
Any idea about comp at associate level?
Base is 125
Any more insight on this shop
Correct. They made some hires from Setter - pretty questionable.
Any updates on this platform
If you ask within WSO, the view will always be “not that great” because the firm just doesn’t play in the same area of PE the most 21yo in WSO want to be in. It’s mostly fund of funds, with co investment and secondaries capabilities. It has strong quant research capabilities and strong tech compared to other shops. The evergreen offering is absolutely smashing the competition - and is catching up to the likes of partners group. Just google their performance and AUM in evergreens.
Are the new hires strong or weak? Only way to judge that is through their education and past background on LinkedIn.. and how much weight you place on that. The office in the US is in a smaller town away from city so maybe that’s a barrier to entry but senior hires in EMEA that I can see last few years are not what I’d call weak in the slightest.
But overall, It’s a place where you’ll likely have a very relaxed environment compared to the traditional GP firms, people are probably much more chilled, you may actually get to see the inside of your apartment in the daylight when you go home after work :O
But are you going to get most people in WSO saying it’s the best thing in the world - no. Because it’s just different to what these guys here are after.
