Trying to get literally any job in financial services
Hi guys, I recently graduated in December and have been applying for jobs. I was able to get a contractual position at Bloomberg Jan-Jan 2025, but it is pretty boring, too simple, and just not a good use of my skills for me to accelerate my career. Due to being a transfer student, not getting into the UMD business school until my last 2 semesters of college, and some poor actions, I was not able to get an internship. I also was not very active at school as frats were not looking for someone who is a junior and business clubs were similar, but not even being in the business school until my last year made it basically impossible.
Outside of all that, I have been studying for the GMAT as I have a lot of free time and did pretty well on the exam, planning on getting an even better score in the 99th percentile. I will then study and take the CFA Level 1 exam in November, which I think will greatly help improve my chances of getting a job. Currently, I have applied to around 500 positions, had like 5-10 phone screens, and around 5 interviews. Almost all have been first rounds, but even some good companies. I want to try and perfect my resume to help me stand out more and get more interviews to be able to showcase my skills and intelligence. If anyone has any advice on my resume I would appreciate it!
I am already anticipating that people say my relevant coursework section does not need descriptions, but as you can see, that would make my resume shorter and create more whitespace at the bottom. I also anticipate people saying to try and beef up my current position at Bloomberg, but I'm not really sure. I basically do nothing all day, it's the simplest thing ever, and it's a struggle to come up with more things to say.
Also if anyone has advice on roles that are easier to initially get into the door at any financial-based company
