I've heard the case study round is going to be slightly different this year, but in past years I think they’ve expected it in a write up essay format
Was an essay last year; had to pick between two fictitious companies for an investment. No modelling/technical aspect
Do you think they are expecting some modelling if they are giving you a real company?
I don’t know, there wasn’t any of it last year anyway and you weren’t even given key financial info anyway. It was generally broader and more on reasoning than technicals. Same with interviews.
500 for the entire case or 500 words for each question? 500 for the entire thing seems a bit short but 500 words each seems a bit much
I pitched one; it’s 500 words total. Exercise in concision I guess.
Have you heard back?
Got case but haven't actually submitted it yet
Did you give exact numbers for the tam?
Is this a US application?
No P72 opens same time for all offices, I'm applying for London but the entire recruitment process is run out of America.
Ok, have you gotten the case study? and how was it?.
Please, can I know the timeline of the application like Apply -Questionnaire -Case study -???
last year it was apply, questionnaire, case study, hr interview, academy coach interview - offer. Process took me about 3-4 weeks.
I got them almost instantly for all of them maybe day between submitting and next stage.
What is the case study like this year?
Company overview from what I was told on a real firm with subsequent questions
Like above said on a real company pretty simple overview, how they create revenue, where their costs come from, is it a good investment, calculate TAM and then effect of some macro event on company.
heyy I just got this! any tips on how to do well in this stage?
is it a true calculation or just how we would go about creating a calculation? phrasing seems to suggest the latter but I don't wanna be the odd man out
Just got questionnaire. Wasn't really expecting anything here so I didn't network but now I'm interested in the role.
How essential is networking to the process and what is the timeline after questionnaire?
Networking isnt important at all; very meritocratic process. I and most other people that got offers last year didn’t really do anything prior to getting an offer.
everyone gets the questionnaire; typically get a case study about a week or so later then HR and academy coach interviews
appreciate it - thanks for the insight
Any advice on the case study? if you could touch on the structure or standardized template?
Hi, I'd like to know about your process more. Is it okay if I can message you?
Same
Anyone heard back yet after turning in the case study?
Still waiting, I assume they are waiting until they get a few hundred case studies back before giving out interviews
I just got the case study
Did you get a confirmation after turning it in
Just got first round interview, 7-8 days after case submission
Isn't this the final Round interview after the case study?
I don’t think so- it’s speaking with campus recruiting team
Update on process
By end of HR round, pushed them and got accelerated, did coach round 2/3 days (including weekend) after hr round; one day later (today) HR reached out and scheduled a Next Steps call.
Ok its a offer call lol
Did they tell you it would be a “30 minute interview with academy management”? Also was it in person or on zoom?
Congrats for the offer. I failed the Case study and could mover further. Sad. Can I ask how you write your case study. When I did, I was not sure what they exactly looked for. Sad for failure, although I tried very hard.
Did your write up consist of 500 words total? or just 500 for each? I have been given 4 questions, please help.
if you can't figure this out on your own...
Hi do you any specific advice for the case? What did you think you did well that got you through the next round? Have my case due in a few days, have a to of information in front of me so don't know where to focus. Much appreciated
Any advices for the interview
HR - behaviors and motivations
Coach - nitty gritty of the case and reasoning behind your subjective conviction
hey!! how was the first 20 min interview - any advice for that? is it behavioural or direct finance questions? and for the academy coach interview - how was that process like? is it only about the case study, or also about income statements/dcf etc? this process is sooo overwhelming haha thank you so much for your help
i interviewed last year and received no questions about the case from the academy coach so take that for what its worth (got the offer)
Same, seems this year they care more abt the case
Yeah this year we have 500 word limit. So they may want to know more about our thought process
anyone heard back after case submission recently?
Yeap. HR contacted for interview 1.5 week after case submission. Any tips for interview?
how long after submitting the questionnaire did you get the case study, and do a lot of people get cut after the questionnaire?
anyone knows how easy it is to relocate within p72?
where's your offer for? man i thought i was early for getting the questionnaire the end of feb lol
lol, i'm only doing case rn... just curious about relocating for HF in general
What was the academy coach interview like?
Hello guys, made it into the final round with the academy coach. Any tips? Much appreciated!
no advice but congrats! I hear its a lot of review of your case study. How long after the case study did you hear back for the HR interview?
It took around 1.5 week - 2 week. Heard back from HR in just 2 days to adv in to next round.
Nice. Did you get an email confirmation after submitting your case study?
Got it. Did you get an email confirmation after submitting your case study?
Nope
del
If it helps anyone, I received my offer in late April last year for SA 2023. Very fast process once you get the first round interview
Will it be ok to go a bit over the word limit?
what is first round interview like? thanks!
when did u submit ur case?
People have told me 1-2 weeks from their submission date, which doesn't come with a confirmation email after submitting
All i see on linkedin are three people with offers for 2024 academy so far... and they're all from harvard
Anyone with an offer - how long was it between the verbal and written offer?
Took less than a day to get the offer letter after I got the verbal offer
What is intern comp like? I'm hearing 135k prorated and 5k signing bonus
Anyone know how meritocratic the process is…? Is it mainly just target schools? Or are the quality of your case and interview also considered?
i'd wager to say its as meritocratic as you it can get. the interview is gonna test your way of thinking and how it fits with the academy. I don't think its too much of a surprise that people with offers come from top schools a lot of the time.
Like above said, it's probably the most meritocratic interview process on the street. However, most of their class do end up being from target schools
Is the academy coach interview an interrogation about your case study?
Not an interrogation but yeah, mainly that.
Yeah, follow ups on case. Also was asked for a stock pitch and follow ups on that
Random pitch on the spot?
what kind of follow ups? are they technical or more just understanding?
Does anybody know if Point72 is expanding their intern class size due to recent increase in AUM?
got rejected after the coach round lol.
What are the questions like?
i think its totally up to the coach
how long after the coach interview did you hear back, was it next day? and was it email or phone
Anyone know if they're still giving out offers?
are they still interviewing? just applied and got the questionnaire, but not sure if worth completing
I heard of someone getting their offer in late April of last year
How long does it take after the academy coach interview to hear back?
what is the coach interview like? how technical and difficult are the questions?
How long after submitting the case did y’all hear back?
1-2 weeks
for which office did you apply and when did you receive the case?
Should your opinion on whether its a good/bad company be at the start or end of the essay?
submitted my case study exactly 3 weeks ago today, haven't heard anything from HR team since. most people said they heard back in 1-2 weeks after submitting case study if they got first round interview, so i'm assuming i didn't get it since its been 3 weeks. thought my case study was pretty solid and networked with two people at the firm who said they would put in a good word for me, so was hoping i'd get a first round, but i guess it's how the game goes
weird thing is tho is i reached out to the recruiter last week asking for an update on my candidacy and she ghosted me. followed up yesterday got ghosted again. i'm assuming it would be very simple for her to respond and tell me i won't be moving forward if i did actually get rejected. would really prefer being told straight up that i got rejected so i can stop hanging on to last strings of hope lol. i know they are still extending invites to do the case study, a friend of mine got the case study last week.
thoughts on this? am i potentially still being considered or 100% rejected at this point? if anyone has been in a similar situation where they got first round 3 weeks after case study would appreciate insight. 98% sure im rejected at this point haha but would be really psyched to somehow still be in the running
edit: another random weird thing that happened that is probably not relevant at all but figured i'd mention. a week after submitting my case study i got the case study invite email again. recruiter quickly followed up and said it was a mistake and i should disregard. definitely a random mistake that doesn't mean anything but figured i should mention it bc why not
95% chance you are rejected. Sorry. 3 weeks is a long time
yeah agreed, especially considering everyone else heard back in 1-2 weeks. wish they would just tell me though lol
Did anyone get another interview after the academy coach round, but with another academy coach?
how much of their summer class is filled?
bump
I know of three from Harvard, three from Georgetown, one from UT Austin, one from IU Kelley who got offers so ofar. For the US office there's around 30 spots
Does anyone know how long it takes after second academy coach interview to hear back?
is having two academy coach rounds typical? I thought it was usually just HR round then one coach round
after passing case study is it just hr round -> coach round, or are there additional interviews after?
Just received an invitation for an interview with the recruiting team. Any ideas about how this goes? What kinds of questions are asked?
same, curious too
.
When did you submit your case study? I sent mine 13 days ago (two weeks tomorrow). Am I dinged?
I submitted mine early last week (around a week ago). Would say most likely dinged tbh, but not impossible
I submitted my case study 1 week ago. I heard some people heard back from 1-2 weeks.
Super glad I found this thread. I always appreciate folks sharing information, motivation, etc.
I applied to another position at P72 as I'm relocating to NYC and was referred to the academy based on fit, interest, experience, and graduation date (military vet, slightly older candidate, currently enrolled in a T15 EMBA with data management/business analyst background). They forwarded the questionnaire immediately with the application. Filled it out today with much thought and effort, really hoping I get the case study! I have a couple of friends in the firm but I'm not leveraging them as I know this process is mostly on merit. This would be a dream come true. Wishing everyone luck!
Hello everyone, I’m very interested in applying also, but worried about the timeline, the site doesn’t specify it, I will be attending a masters in a top school this year and trying to land a job at a top HF afterwards like P72, do you know if I can still apply? Thanks!
do most people only do one coach interview before offer, or is it typical to do more?
also, does the coach round involve any ib-like financial knowledge questions, or is it almost purely about the case?
I had 2 coach interviews
and no IB technicals
1 and then offer
Just finished the coach interview yesterday. How long do people usually hear back after this round?
How was the coach interview? What did it focus on mainly? How in-depth were the follow-up questions?
I had multiple coach interviews, and it was 1-2 days that I heard back after interviews
So only 3 rounds in total? HR+ 2 coaches? No PM?
seems like it varies for everyone
.
.
.
for the case study, is it 500 words per question or for the whole thing?
whole thing
bruh how is that possuble holy crap. shit gotta be hella short then. also how u know if u don't mind me asking
.
I've been ghosted following coach round for a week. anyone else also experienced this, or know what this means? seems normal response time is 1-2 days
Did anyone waiting on a response get the internship advice email? It scared the crap out of me lololol
yeah haha. also when did you do your coach interview?
my case was due on the 18th and I haven't heard from them about an interview, that's why I was extra jumpy lmao
did anyone get offers for ny/sf last week or this week?
How long did it take for y’all to hear back after the HR first round?
what's the timeline for london?
