Private Equity Financial Analyst (Partner Track Position)

MidInfra Capital Partners LLC (“MidInfra”), a private equity investment fund specializing in infrastructure investments, seeks a highly skilled and motivated Private Equity Financial Analyst to join our investment team.

The analyst role is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to learn and build a long-term Partner-track Private Equity career in an engaging, challenging, and fun work environment overlooking the Pacific Ocean in La Jolla (San Diego), CA.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in all aspects of our private equity investments by performing detailed financial analyses, building extensive/detailed financial models, writing Investment Committee Memos, researching and performing due diligence on target companies and sectors, participating in the entire M&A and post-acquisition portfolio management process, and being involved in all aspects of fundraising and private equity funds management.

This is an ideal position for an entrepreneurial, self-motivated/self-disciplined, and ambitious individual. You will join a small team, work day-to-day alongside the deal team while reporting directly to the CEO, and be involved in the highest level of interactions, learning, and exposure to senior executives, partners, and counterparties.

The position will be in-person in our La Jolla, CA office. This is an ideal position for someone seeking intellectually engaging work while residing in sunny San Diego with excellent work/life environment, work/beach/surf culture, and sunshine throughout the year.

Responsibilities:

  • Build private equity style complex/sophisticated M&A acquisition models.
  • Write detailed investment committee memoranda.
  • Perform extensive and detailed market research to support investment theses and strategies.
  • Assist private equity-type due diligence processes, including working with operating executives at portfolio companies and outside consultants.
  • Support legal drafting and analysis throughout the deal process, working alongside our external legal counsel.
  • Source investment transactions and build investment thesis around innovative platforms ideas.
  • Assist in all aspects of fundraising, investor relations, and reporting.

What Success Looks Like in Year One:

By the end of your first year, you’ll be a reliable, trusted member of the team who is able to create a credible first draft at any part of the deal process, from models and memos to diligence and legal drafting, and to produce well-organized work that a senior colleague can refine rather than rebuild.

Required Skills:

  • High-level quantitative skills in Microsoft Excel, Financial Statement Analysis, and Corporate Finance / Valuation Analysis.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance, accounting, and business in general.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to comfortably interact with executive/“C level” team members professionally.
  • Able to communicate concepts and ideas concisely and persuasively both verbally and in writing.
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented with an aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop it into financial analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving capability and analytical skills.

Experience and Education:

MUST HAVE: 

  • 1-4 years of extensive financial modeling and/or financial engineering / analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, math, economics, finance, economics, or similar degree from a top college; MBA a plus but not required.

Compensation:

$110,000–$130,000 base per annum plus annual discretionary incentive cash compensation award and discretionary profit sharing. Full benefits package included (health insurance, 401(k) with company match).

This is a Partner-track position, and we expect to hire someone with the intention of a long-term career with MidInfra.
