Investment Banking Analyst - Generalist
General Interview Information
Interview Details
The interview was held on-campus at NYU and was a 2:1. The interviewers weren't mean, but were very firm. The first few questions were relatively straightforward - "Why banking? Walk me through your resume?". That lasted for about 5 or so minutes and then came a wave of technicals. The first few were easy - valuation methods, some basic questions about a DCF.
Then the last question was extremely technical and was definitely not in either the WSO or M&I guides. It was a comprehensive accretion/dilution question but the given information did not match that on the guides. You will need a paper and pen to walk yourself through the steps. I fumbled through it.
All in all, the interview breakdown (roughly):
Introduction - 3 minutes
Resume, why banking, etc. - ~5 minutes
Technicals - 15+ minutes
Questions - ~5 minutes
I spoke to some of my friends who also had the interview and they also believed that the interview was very technical and difficult.
