Commodity Associate Program at S&P Global Platts
General Interview Information
Interview Details
I was offered an interview through my university's career expo where i met with the recruiter and analyst of the firm. after about 3 months i was contacted by the recruiter who asked me to complete the hirevue. The hiring process included 4 rounds total. The first round was a 15 minute video interview through hirevue which was basic questions such as tell me about yourself, what did you enjoy learning about S&P. 2nd round was a phone call with the recruiter which added to the previous questions and walked through your resume. 3rd round was an invitation to the office containing one test consisting of math, editorial and qualitative pieces which lasted about 3 hours. 4th interview was the super day that included another invitation to the office, two 30 minute interviews and one skills test with a trader. they asked a lot of behavioral questions--i.e- what was the biggest challenge in your life; why would you not want to be a trader; what do you know about S&P global platts?
Program- the interview process was a little too lengthy for the program Commodity Associate Program (CAPS). CAPS is a 7 month program designed to train individuals towards covering different commodity markets. after completing the program, the individual is placed into a commodity upon the company's discretion.
Culture- S&P culture was very relaxed and chill. they emphasized that their employees never work more than 40 hours because they cover markets and must submit assessments at 1:30 PM EST every day. they offer many perks such as paid parking downtown, fitness reimbursements and organized company events.
Recommendations- understand the program and know current trends in a commodity market such as crude oil or natural gas. remain natural throughout the process, appear genuine and definitely ask questions after the interview. try to maintain a light but confident tone while understanding the role may not be demanding.
