I'm making a new thread since the last one dealt more with WashU in general. I have been accepted to these four schools and I want to know which ones would give me the best access to IB.

-Washington University in St. Louis
-UNC-Chapel Hill
-Rice University
-University of Notre Dame

UNC will be a lot cheaper because my family will be in-state for my sophomore year on (moving to NC), but cost is not an issue.

Edit: I would be happier going to a private school so I think I'm taking UNC off the table.

MFE out of a BBA program

I am a BBA interested in getting an MFE out of undergrad. I am at a top-5 BBA program with a 4.0 GPA, and had a Big 3 consulting internship my junior summer, however I want to change career paths into a more finance focused role. Would it be possible to get accepted into a top MFE program if I took the basic prereqs (calculus, probability, programming) in an extra year at school?

BBA Finance vs BA Economics

 on 8/3/12 at 5:26pm

In a few weeks I will be starting my sophomore year of college at Notre Dame. I am currently enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business. My plan is to be a finance and economics double major. Econ is in the college of arts and letters. After graduation, im contemplating two paths:

1. Investment banking
2. Graduate school in economics

I am aware that for econ grad school a solid math background is a must, so i was thinking about dropping business and just go for a BA in econ and take a whole lot of math classes. If I do this, but end up deciding no to go to grad school(or at least not immediately) and decide to apply to ibanking jobs, would I be at a disadvantage by just having a BA in econ coming from a university with a top undergrad business school?

Thanks

Does UMich Ross BBA place well in S&T?

Sorry if this is in the wrong category. I'm new to S&T.

I'm considering moving to Ross's undergraduate program. I was interested in consulting before (and I sort of still am), but recently I've researched other industries and found myself liking Trading A LOT more. Could you briefly explain how S&T works (just so I know I'm on the right track). What advice would you have for someone interested in Trading?

Also, are there any useful S&T websites that you would recommend?

Should I get an MBA after Ross BBA?

I'm planning on doing Ross's three-year BBA program (I'm in-state). Say I complete the program and get an MBA after five years of work experience. Would that MBA raise or lower my chances of getting a career at a top firm? Would it be a good idea?

Also what kind of career(s) could I expect with a BBA from Ross?

Thanks

College Major Predicament

 on 7/2/11 at 11:05am

I just finished my freshman year at berkeley and I'm having trouble about what I should major in. I'm positive that I can get into the Haas business school if I apply next year, but I'd rather major in Computer Science. Don't get me wrong, I actually like finance, but the business major requires that I take so many useless classes and I think if I major in CS, which is also something that I like, I could just take 2-3 econ/finance courses that I want.

How would not going go Haas and majoring in CS play into recruiting. I want to get into trading, but if I can't, I won't mind working in IB.

Right now, I have a PWM internship at a BB Bank and next year I'm going to try to land either an internship at a prop shop or a MM Bank.

didn't do well freshmen year/soph year (42 credits) at 2.3-4ish gpa
- doing decent now avg 3.5 gpa now (in the last 8-16 credits and estimating 3.5 in future classes since all I am doing now is focusing on studying)
- want to do an online bba.
- Have an Financial analyst/stock broking internship on resume from India for a summer
Back in 2009. (ANGEL BROKING LTD)

Any suggestion of online BBA schools that have Banking/finance concentration? with accsb accreditation?

Live in Michigan. have attended OAKLAND UNIVERSITY, WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY, and a community college. Applying everywhere and anywhere, any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I don't know if it's best for what I want to do.

Well I'll be going to Michigan's LSA (language, science, and arts) next year and trying to get into Ross. I'm thinking if I get in I'd like to double major in Business Administration with a focus in accounting or finance and computer science... the reason I'd like to do CS is because 1) It seems like something I would be interested in and 2) I've been taking calculus classes at my cc right now and am picking it up pretty easily so I'd like to be able to build up my quantitative knowledge.

wtf

Gentlemen and Ladies,

Not really sure where to put this, since its not a job related, nor Business (MBA) school related question really. So I'll ask the people who know the industry better than I.

In short, I want to get into consulting. You may decide that my "story" is ridiculous and stupid, but I am truly searching for advice...

I'm a rising junior BBA at Ross. Everyone always discusses the value of "raw intelligence", "analytical skills" and whatnot when talking about getting offers for consulting. I happen to be a card-carrying member of MENSA, or the organization for people in the 98th percentile of so-called "intelligence" according to their silly exam.

Should I list that on my resume/mention it in interviews or would I just sound brazen and arrogant prick? Or is that what I'm supposed to go for?
